Lucid is a budget bedding company that has a catalog of sleep products, like mattresses, bed frames, mattress toppers, and more. They’re one of the top selling bedding companies on Amazon.
The Lucid L300 adjustable bed base has a 4.6 star rating on Amazon and is an “Amazon’s Choice” product if you search for adjustable bed frames. You can bet on it shipping directly to you completely free. At checkout, Amazon will ask you if you want expert assembly for an additional fee, but we don’t think it’s necessary. Assembly is incredibly easy, which we’ll talk about more later.
From the day your Lucid bed frame is delivered, you’ll have a 30-day return period. If you order through Amazon, contact them for instructions for a return.
Your bed frame will also come with a 10-year pro-rated warranty.
Lucid likes to boast that their L300 adjustable bed frame can be set up in five minutes, and while it took us about 5-10 minutes, we can’t complain about the process. It was super simple and easy because all of the cords were already in place and no tools were required. The base of the bed frame is already set up.
We just put on the legs, plugged it in, and then flipped it over to attach the mattress footer hooks. Seriously, super simple; we didn’t even need to glance at the instructions since it was such an intuitive set-up process.
We do still recommend that you have a friend help you to flip the bed frame over, though, because it is quite heavy. Our lineman D-Payne assembled this bed frame, and he had to ask Jeff to come help him flip it over.
We should also add that since it’s easy to assemble, it’s also easy to disassemble, which is great if you know you’ll be moving sometime in the not so distance future. A lot of the adjustable bed frames are a pain to move—the L300 is not.
The dimensions of this bed frame obviously vary because it’s adjustable, so we’ll just give you a few of the important ones. The top portion of the bed frame can adjust from 0-60 degrees, and the foot of the bed can incline from 0-45 degrees. There is 10.5” of space under the bed for storage. Also, this bed doesn’t come with a headboard and it would be difficult to add one because the head of the bed moves up and down, but it does come with two bars at the foot of the bed to keep your mattress in place and prevent it from sliding off the bed frame.
This adjustable feature is really great for those with back issues, pregnant women who are having a hard time getting comfortable, and snorers. Lucid claims that by simply raising your head 10 to 30 degrees, you can reduce snoring and relieve congestion by opening up airways. So if you’re about to divorce your partner because they’re keeping you up at night, this may be a great option for you.
This bed frame is currently only available in the sizes twin XL, full, and queen. We think that it’s strange they don’t offer a king size, but they say that the consumer should just get two twin XL for a split king sized bed, which lets each partner control their own side. If you’re like me (Slumber Yard member Kelsie), you sleep on a king size mattress, and you’re not looking to get a whole new mattress (or two) to accomodate a new bed frame. So we’ll take a pass on this.
This adjustable bed frame has a very simple and elegant design that is very similar to the Nectar Adjustable Bed Frame and the Classic Brands Adjustable Bed Base, because of its linen charcoal grey base and six low profile legs. But we have to say, we really do like the look of it and think that it can seamlessly blend in to any bedroom. The core of the base is made of black steel and wood.
Again, notice that the bed frame does not come with a headboard or footboard. This would be very tricky because of how the bed frame inclines. We even noticed that it would be difficult to hang art right above your bed because of how far the head adjusts; it can possibly knock your art off the wall. Your only other option is to get an empty decorative bed frame, which is basically a shell that adds panels around the side and a headboard, and your adjustable bed frame fits inside.
What we like about this bed frame is that it isn’t that noisy while adjusting positions, or while we’re adjusting positions on it. We’ve tested some very squeaky bed frames, but this one is solid.
The remote is nice, too, because it’s wireless, super easy to use, and has a flashlight at the top. There is an “M” button which stands for “memory position,” so that you can program your favorite incline settings, and then a “FLAT” button for when you want your bed to return to flat so you can make the bed. The frame also has two USB charging ports on either side of the bed for a total of four charging ports.
While this bed frame doesn’t have the extra fancy features like massage or a “Zero Gravity” setting, we think they did a good job of keeping in what’s necessary, like the charging ports. This helps to keep the cost much more reasonable, which Lucid is pretty great at.
Because most consumers choose to purchase this bed frame through Amazon, and since those prices tend to bounce around, you might want to check the current prices on Amazon. The prices you see below are MSRP based on Lucid’s website—we doubt you’ll pay full retail for the bed frame. And remember, if you want a king or California king size, you’ll just have to get two twin XLs, so double that price.
This is definitely one of the cheaper adjustable bed frames out there, but The Classic Brands Adjustable Base Bed actually is a tiny bit cheaper for more accessories, like a build in massager. But some people just want a straightforward bed frame, and that’s more of what this is. No extra fancy features, and a quality design.
Here are some rough dimensions for each bed frame size:
If you’re looking for an adjustable bed frame, this one is a great option. Lucid is well regarded as affordable but dependable, and this bed frame further confirms that. While we find it strange that they don’t offer a king size option, we do really like that it comes with four USB charging ports and an easy-to-use remote. If you’re looking for a more straightforward adjustable bed frame that can perform well with none of the extra fluff, it looks like you might have stumbled upon the perfect review.
How did SY get the L300 bed frame?
We were sent the L300 Adjustable Bed Base from Malouf, a distributor of Lucid products so that we could test it, review it, and tell you what you think of it—the good and bad.
Why isn’t there a twin, king, or California king option?
We’re honestly not sure. While we’ve seen a lot of other adjustable bed frames ignore the California king size (probably because it’s a more obscure size that isn’t as popular), not having a king size option is something new that we haven’t seen before. It could be very possible that they’re still creating one and haven’t gotten around to releasing it yet, or they really just want you to go for that split king size instead. But like we said, we’re not interested in getting two new twin XL mattresses for two twin XL adjustable bed frames. As for the twin size, we can only assume that twin size bed frames are mainly used by kids, and kids don’t really need adjustable features like adults do. So we highly doubt that a twin size adjustable bed frame sells very well.
What other products does Lucid sell online?
On Amazon, they sell a ton of sleep related products. They’re most highly recognized for their mattresses, though, and especially their memory foam mattresses that are very affordable. But they also dabble with mattress toppers, mattress protectors, headboards, portable furniture, and storage items. Feel free to check it all out.
Does the remote come with batteries included?
The remote uses AAA batteries and they’re included. Isn’t that so thoughtful of them?
How much weight can the Lucid L300 Adjustable bed frame carry?
Great question. It can hold up to 750 lb, which translates into (up to) one mattress and two 300 lb people.
