Mattress Comparisons -
Charts & Ratings
While we invest a lot of time in our mattress reviews, we know that consumers also want to be able to compare beds and are often times in between on two or three mattresses. That’s precisely why we post so many head-to-head comparisons. We’ve compared some of the biggest brands such as Casper, Leesa, Purple, Saatva, and Nectar as well as some of the smaller brands like Layla and Spindle. And we aren’t just comparing prices, we discuss feel, firmness, sleeper type, pros, cons, and more.

Comparison Charts / Best List Ratings
We also post a lot of best mattress lists / comparison charts, where we detail which beds are the best in various categories. We find that a lot of folks don’t really know where to start, but they know that they want a good bed for stomach sleepers, for example. These lists also compare beds and discuss their relative advantages and disadvantages, but a lot of people find them particularly helpful because they’re targeted and specific.
What We Discuss
We try out best to make our comparisons succinct yet thorough. As such, we like to discuss commonalities and policy information first and then move on to the pros, cons, and major points with each bed. We do our best to draw clear distinctions between each mattress and tell you why specifically you’d get one bed over another. For example, if we’re comparing an all-foam mattress and a hybrid mattress, one clear distinction that we will probably make is that all-foam beds tend to be less desirable for heavy people because they aren’t as supportive long-term. Now, that’s obviously a generalization, but in most cases it holds true. Latex, however, does tend to be more durable in the long run than poly foam based products such as memory foam beds, which soften quite a bit with use.
Budget vs Mid-Tier vs Luxury
There are a lot of mattress brands out there and more are popping up it seems like everyday. Naturally, each company is carving out a niche for itself and we’re seeing a clear fissure not only based on materials, but also on price. We are seeing some companies such as Lucid, Zinus, and Tuft & Needle competing hard in the ultra-budget category. Other brands such as Casper, Leesa, and GhostBed are dancing around in a moderate price range (between $700 and $1,000 for a queen size bed). And then we have more luxury brands such as Zenhaven, Avocado Green Mattress, and Brentwood Home.
There is no single best brand or best bed for everyone. While I personally might not be the absolute biggest fan of the Lucid 10" Memory Foam Mattress there is a person and an application where it might be the best bed. Similarly, some people might not be able to afford the Purple.4 Mattress, but that doesn’t make it bad or a bad value. So with that in mind, we try to present the whole story, even if we compare a budget bed with a luxury bed. There is a bed for everyone.
