Beautyrest Silver is the entry-level line of beds from Simmons, and there are multiple height and firmness options to choose from. The Beautyrest Silver collection is surprisingly affordable considering the thickness and quality of these beds, especially compared to other Beautyrest models. The other collections from Simmons Beautyrest can get pretty pricey. We think the Silver line is more in the playing field of top online mattress brands like Casper, Nectar, and Brooklyn Bedding. Continue below to learn more about the Beautyrest Silver mattress line and if they’re worth their prices!
What Does Beautyrest Silver Feel Like?
For this review, we’re specifically looking at the Plush Pillow Top model. We think this bed feels like sleeping on a plush cushion, but you can feel the bounce of the pocketed coil system beneath it. Because of the springs, this bed has great responsiveness with none of that stuck-in-the-mud feeling you sometimes get from memory foam beds.
The feel will differ slightly depending on the exact model you choose. With that said, they will all have a similar feel of bouncy, supportive, but plush and light at the top. For even more of a fluffy feel, opt for a Beautyrest Silver mattress with a pillow-top.
We found the Plush Pillow Top option to be a soft to medium-soft in terms of firmness, making it perfect for side sleepers who love that hugging, contouring feel of a bed.
Within the Simmons Beautyrest Silver line, there are multiple firmness levels to choose from, making it extremely easy for you to find a profile that fits your needs. Do you want a firm mattress? Beautyrest Silver has it. Medium? They have it. Soft? You guessed it, Beautyrest has it. They even have extra firm if you’re a heavy back or stomach sleeper looking for even more support.
Pressure-relieving mattresses are great for sleepers with joint pain and tend to be on the medium to soft side of the firmness spectrum. If you want a mattress with optimal pressure relief, we recommend any Plush, Soft, or Medium model. Medium is best for people who want a balance between support and pressure relief.
None of the Beautyrest Silver line beds will sleep cold, but they shouldn’t sleep hot either. During testing, we found that the coils gave an ample amount of airflow to make the bed more breathable than a typical foam bed. We also think the design of their foams helps keep the bed from retaining heat.
Construction And Design
Beautyrest really likes to give customers options, so you also have different heights to choose from when it comes to Beautyrest Silver. From a hefty and thick 16.5” to a smaller, more affordable 11.75”.
Whichever you choose, you’ll end up with a hybrid mattress that has layers of coils, memory foam and proprietary foam. The exact order of the layers might differ from below, but the beds in the Silver line generally contain the same foams.
The 14.75” Plush Pillow Top model starts with a 4” base of pocketed coil technology.
Next is a layer of gel memory foam that acts as a neutralizer for the pocketed coil base below, then their proprietary GelTouch Foam.
Then, there’s a layer of AirCool Foam for more breathability, followed by a layer of AirFeel Foam for even more comfortable pressure relief — both of which are proprietary materials. The Pillow Top model uses DualCool technology fiber and has silver sewed throughout (hence the name), which has antimicrobial properties.
Overall, this bed is built to a higher standard than many online-specific beds.
The middle name of the Beautyrest Silver Mattress line is durable. Seriously, these beds are thick and burly. Their thinnest mattress option is thicker than many popular bed-in-a-box mattresses like Casper or Tuft & Needle.
Body Type Analysis
Whether you weigh 130 lbs or 260 lbs, we think the Beautyrest Silver mattresses will work for you.
- Petite Individuals
People who weigh under 150 lbs will be fine on the thinner Beautyrest Silver models, and we’d even go as far as saying their thickest models will be an overkill for you. Save money and go with a thinner option, and keep in mind, lightweight individuals tend to think beds are firmer than the average person.
- Average Individuals
Any mattress in the Silver Beautyrest line will be suitable for sleepers in between 150 to 230 lbs. It all depends on how supportive you want your bed to be and how much you’re looking to pay.
- Heavy Individuals
Folks who weigh over 230 lbs will really enjoy the support offered by Beautyrest Silver beds. The more support you want, the thicker you should go. Also, remember, the heavier you are, the softer the mattresses tend to feel!
The main position you sleep in should help you determine the mattress profile that will best suit you.
- Back And Stomach Sleepers
The firmer models will be best for back and stomach sleepers because back and stomach sleepers need to keep their spines in neutral alignment, not curved or arched. A firmer bed will support the hips and shoulders so that they don’t sag into the mattress.
We recommend the luxury firm pillow top, luxury firm and extra firm for back sleepers and stomach sleepers. With these models, you will remain on top of the mattress. We think they could be a nice solution if you’re dealing with lower back pain in particular.
- Side Sleepers
Side sleepers should go for softer models that will offer pressure relief for their hips and shoulders. We recommend the plush and plush pillow top models for side sleepers. The plush pillow top model will be soft but could be what you’re looking for if you are nursing shoulder or hip pain and you spend nearly all night on your side.
- Combination Sleepers
The Beautyrest Silver line should be fine for combo sleepers because there isn’t any stuck-in-the-mud feeling. For something right in the middle, opt for a medium bed. If you’re primarily a back or stomach sleeper, the luxury firm is likely the model you will prefer. If you’re mostly a side sleeper, but you sometimes rotate around, the plush model should be ideal.
Will Couples Like Beautyrest Silver?
In some aspects, yes, in some, no. Read on to learn why we say this.
If you’re a couple sharing a smaller bed and one of you likes to hog the center, have no fear. The edge support on this bed is excellent.
There’s hardly any excess compression along the perimeter. The bed is designed specifically to have reinforced edges. You won’t see that on a lot of budget-tier beds.
Motion Isolation And Noise
You might run into problems if either you or your partner are sensitive sleepers. The pocketed coil system in the construction of this bed gives it some bounce, which is hard to keep from transferring across the bed.
If you tend to wake up every time your partner tosses or turns in the night, you might want to look for something with better motion isolation, like memory foam. Here’s our list of the best mattresses for motion isolation and light sleepers. Though, it’s really great at not making any sound.
How Much Does BeautyRest Silver Cost?
The cost of your mattress will ultimately depend on the firmness and thickness level that you choose. The most affordable option is the Medium Firm at 11.75” and the queen size has an MSRP of $799. Prices go up to $899 for the queen size 12” models. The 16.5” Plush Pillow Top model is their most expensive and retails for $1,199 (for a queen). These are some great deals if you ask us, especially if you consider how thick and premium these beds are.
Beautyrest Silver Mattress Review Verdict
In summary, we think this is a nice bed, especially considering the price at which you’re getting it. We like the wide range of firmness options because they can accommodate any sleeper type, plus the coils make this bed an option for any body type.

Most Beautyrest mattresses are available online or in-store through a variety of different retailers.
If you’re interested in a different Beautyrest mattress, we’d recommend going through US-Mattress.com, one of the largest online retailers of beds. US-Mattress also offers free delivery, free returns and trial periods.
If you buy through US-Mattress, you still receive a 10-year warranty with your new Beautyrest bed. If your mattress fails during the first ten years of use, you will be refunded or your mattress will be replaced or repaired.
Yes, the silver line includes plush, soft, medium, and even extra soft options. This variety makes them accommodating for side sleepers of all body types.
No, these beds aren’t meant to be flipped because of the way the layers are stacked. Unless you want a seriously uncomfy sleeping surface, we wouldn’t flip it.
Nope! All you’ll need is a foundation or a bed frame. Just make sure it’s solid and sturdy enough. If you have a slatted bed frame, the slats should be more than 3” apart.
We recommend you purchase through US-mattress, but many in-store retailers hold Beautyrest Silver beds. Use their store locator to find out where is the nearest one to you.
Most online retailers will offer a trial period so you can test your bed before you are fully tied to it. Though, we can’t make the same promise for all in-store retailers.
