Ghostbed isn’t quite as well-known as the likes of Casper or Nectar, but it probably should be because of the brand’s comfy and versatile mattresses. They offer an entry-level flagship mattress, a cooling bed, strong hybrids, and now introducing their natural offering. It was only a matter of time before they offered up a natural latex mattress, considering the other mattresses contain a synthetic latex material that offers similar cooling properties and a responsive feel, minus the eco-friendliness.
GhostBed Natural Latex Mattress Overview
Now, this one’s for the sleepers who want a natural latex mattress that uses sustainable but comfortable materials. This GhostBed review will focus on the GhostBed Natural mattress and who we think it suits best — stick around to learn if it’s worth it for you.
Here are the basics you should know about GhostBed Natural:
- Utilizes natural and organic materials including organic latex, organic cotton, and natural wool.
- Medium firmness level is softer than many latex foam beds and is suitable for all sleeping positions.
- Hybrid construction makes GhostBed Natural suitable for petite to heavy body types.
- Bouncy, springy latex hybrid mattress feel.
Construction
Most beds of its kind only use one type of latex foam, but in true GhostBed fashion, the brand utilizes both types of foam, Talalay and Dunlop, in the GhostBed natural mattress. Combined with pocketed steel coils, this 12” hybrid mattress is one durable bed.
- Thin Dunlop latex layer to act as a foundation for the thick pocketed coil layer below.
- A hefty eight-inch layer of pocketed coils with a special “Spirited Edge” tech that makes the edges of the mattress more sturdy.
- Two inches of Talalay latex for comfort and it helps soften up the coils below.
- Almost 2 oz. of natural wool batting for plush and light comfort.
- A soft-to-the-touch organic cotton cover that wraps the mattress.

Durability
Latex is the most durable of all the foams: memory, poly, and latex, with the exception of Purple’s Hyper-Elastic Polymer. The base layer of this mattress is also made with pocketed steel coils, making this one of the most durable mattresses you can get your hands on.
Mattress Pricing
At MSRP the GhostBed Natural mattress is a little expensive; a queen size mattress model will retail for $1,945. However, GhostBed typically runs promotions making the mattress around a solid $500 off. If you purchase it while they have a discount running, it’s a pretty affordable organic and natural latex mattress. Since organic latex is more tedious and difficult to make, prices are little higher than your standard bed-in-a-box mattress.

Mattress Firmness And Feel
We test each mattress individually to learn how they feel and how firm they are, GhostBed Natural included.

How do we rate the firmness?
This mattress was rated around a medium of the firmness spectrum. It’s not too firm, but it’s not too soft either. It proves a nice balance between pressure relief and support, which is really nice considering the fact that most latex hybrid mattresses lean towards the firm end of the spectrum.
Pressure relief
It’s not the most plush mattress I’ve ever tested, but it is a pressure relieving mattress in the organic/natural hybrid category. A lot of organic latex hybrid mattresses offer a ton of support with only a little pressure relief, like Avocado. However, this bed offers ample pressure relief, especially for heavier individuals over 230 lbs..
What does it feel like?
The GhostBed Natural mattress is bouncy and springy, kind of like a sponge. Latex even kind of looks like a sponge, but it’s sap from a rubber tree that’s been baked. The feel is supportive, yet offers enough give that it’s not going to press hard into your shoulders and hips if you’re laying on your side. The wool also gives it a touch of airy fluffiness, making it especially pressure relieving at the top.
Responsiveness
It’s the exact opposite of memory foam in that it bounces back immediately after pressure relief. Compare that to memory foam which leaves an impression in the foam for a few moments before slowly morphing back into its original shape. For combination sleepers who switch positions on their mattress often, its bounce will make it easy to rotate around.

Temperature regulation
The good news is that latex foam is one of the most breathable foams offered on the market because of its perforated design, and combined with coils that allow for airflow, the GhostBed Natural mattress doesn’t sleep hot. However, it’s not actively cooling you either. Long story short, it’s temperature neutral.
Is it good for couples?
It has a medium firmness level that accommodates most sleeping positions, and a hybrid design that suits most body types. For that reason, we think it’s a great mattress for people who want an accommodating and versatile bed. However, you’ll also want to consider edge support and motion isolation when you sleep with a partner.
Edge support
If you sleep near the edge of a mattress because you want the maximum sleeping room possible when you’re next to your partner (or your pup), this is especially important to you. Thanks to the reinforced edges in the bed’s perimeter, GhostBed Natural offers good edge support.

Motion isolation
While it doesn’t make noise or make intrusive shakes, it is bouncy and more responsive than a foam mattress like Layla. It’s average; didn’t blow us away but didn’t disappoint us either.
GhostBed Natural Verdict
We always appreciate beds that accommodate a wide range of people and GhostBed Natural is one of them. Not every organic latex bed offers the medium profiel this one does, and we’d go as far as to say it’s one of the most pressure relieving latex hybrid beds we’ve tested here. This makes it good for all sleeping positions. We also love its hybrid design with certified organic and natural materials, fit for an eco-conscious sleeper from petite to heavy. If you find you dislike this bed, you can also lean on its 101-night sleep trial.
Our favorite parts about the mattress:
- It’s made with environmentally-friendly materials sourced from nature
- It’s suitable for all sleeping positions (softer than most latex mattresses)
- Most body types will love how supportive this bed is
- It’s more breathable than your typical foam bed
Considerations:
- It may not be soft enough for a petite side sleeper
- Heavy back and stomach sleepers looking for extra support should look elsewhere
- It’s not ideal for someone on a tight budget
