Linenspa Memory Foam Hybrid Mattresses Overview

If you’re shopping for an affordable mattress, the Linenspa mattress in a box may be exactly what you’re looking for. Our Linenspa hybrid mattress review goes over everything you need to know about these mattresses.

Technically speaking, there are three beds from Linenspa that are almost identical: an 8″ and 10″ Memory Foam & Innerspring and then a 12″ Gel Memory Foam Hybrid. The differences between the three are:

  • Price — The 8″ model for a queen size retails for around $200 on Amazon, while the 10″ is about $250, and the 12″ is closer to $400.
  • Coils — The 8″ and 10″ models have traditional innerspring support structures, while the 12″ model has pocketed coils, a more modern take on innersprings.
  • Foams — The 8″ and 10″ use regular memory foam, while the 12″ has gel memory foam to help with temperature regulation.
  • Motion isolation — The 12″ model will do a better job of deadening movement because it has a thicker slab of foam and individually-siloed coils.
  • Feel and firmness — The thinner model will feel the firmest, the 10″ model is in between, and the 12″ is about a true medium on the firmness scale.

If you have specific things you’d like to know, you can use these links to jump to parts of the Linenspa mattress review:

Linenspa Hybrid Mattress Construction And Design

These are hybrid mattresses, constructed with both foam and springs. The exact construction of each depends on the model. For example, here are the layers of the 8″ model:

    • Support layer — 6” tempered steel springs
    • Transition layer — Felt pad to prevent you from feeling the springs (although it doesn’t work that well)
    • Comfort layer — 1.5” of “Comfort foam,” which creates a more cushioned surface
    • Toy layer — Memory foam, which is quilted into the cover.

The 10″ model will follow the same cadence in terms of materials, though, the comfort layer is 2.5″ thick and the quilted memory foam cover, 1.5″ thick. This explains why the 10″ model is softer than the 8″ model.

The 12″ model has a different construction. It starts with 8″ pocketed coils, then a 1″ transition layer, then 2″ of gel memory foam, and finally 1″ of regular memory foam inside the quilted cover.

Construction breakdown for the 8″ bed

Although it does not specifically state on their Amazon product page, we contacted the company to make sure that all Linenspa foams are CertiPUR-US certified and are not made with any harmful materials. Linenspa assured us of this, and guarantee its products are safe.

Remember to rotate your mattress every 3-6 months to prevent uneven sagging or wear. Also, this mattress is not flippable. The coils are meant to be the bottom foundation of this bed.

    Linenspa Quilted Mattress Cover

The cover of this mattress is a knit material. It looks and feels pretty cheap, but it’s quilted and has blue piping along the edges so it stays in place nicely. This cover is not removable, so if you have any spills, spot treat the area with some warm water and mild detergent.

    Size And Dimensions

Linenspa mattresses follow standard sizes. They are:

    • Twin: 39″ x 75″
    • Twin XL: 39″ x 80″
    • Full: 54″ x 75″
    • Queen: 60″ x 80″
    • King: 76″ x 80″
    • California King: 72″ x 84″

    Linenspa Firmness And Feel

The 8″ version to be medium-firm on our scale. The 12″ sits right in the middle on the firmness scale (i.e. medium) and the 10″ falls in between the two.

linenspa memory foam hybrid mattress review firmness

Although the 8″ version has both comfort foam and memory foam top layers, we feel the innerspring when we lay down on this mattress. We actually think this bed feels similar to our college dorm bed, only slightly more comfortable.

The 10″ and 12″ models will offer more pressure relief and will have less of that “innerspring” feel to them because the foam layers are thicker.

Because of the innerspring system, this bed is very responsive and bouncy. There is absolutely no stuck-in-the-mud feeling with this mattress. We think it’d be great for pillow fights.

Is Linenspa A Good Mattress For Couples?

For couples, we simply cannot recommend the 8″ model—it’s really a bed for kids, guest rooms and college student apartments. The 10″ and 12″ beds are a different story. We think both will work for couples on a budget.

As long as you both can agree on firmness and feel, the next three items should be of lesser importance, but still worth looking into.

    Edge Support

Edge support is something you should pay attention to if you plan on buying a smaller size bed such as a full or twin XL. In any case, edge support refers to the strength/compression of the perimeter of the bed. If you fight over the middle of the bed and space is limited, you need a bed that gets a thumbs up in the edge support arena.

The 10″ and 12″ have okay edge support. Considering the price tag, we think you’ll be fine here, but they don’t have the best edge support in the world.

linenspa mattress review gel memory foam hybrid
The two thicker models have decent edge support

    Motion Isolation

Motion isolation is a second factor that you need to look into if either partner is a light sleeper. There’s a big difference between the innerspring and pocketed coil models when it comes to motion transfer.

There are two reasons why the 12″ model is better for light sleepers: (1) the foam layers are thicker and foams do a better job of absorbing motion and (2) the coils are individually wrapped and therefore do not transfer motion the same way an innerspring chassis does.

    Temperature Regulation

Because the 8″ bed is so firm and bouncy, we found ourselves sleeping more on top of it than down in it. This, along with the innerspring system, allows for great airflow. While this bed doesn’t have any active technology that keeps it cool to the touch, if you have a fan going while sleeping on this bed, you probably won’t heat up on this model. If you don’t think this is enough to keep you cool, check out our Best Beds for Hot Sleepers.

The other two models will allow you to sink in more and, therefore, the beds will retain more heat.

Linenspa Hybrid Mattresses Sleeper Type Analysis

We based our Linenspa reviews after an average-sized person, but weight and sleeping position changes how a mattress feels. Therefore, we’ve considered how these mattresses will work for all types of sleepers.

    • Stomach And Back Sleepers

We think all of the beds are a good option for stomach and back sleepers. Back and stomach sleepers need to keep their spine in a straight line. To achieve this, the head, shoulders, and hips need to be supported, not sinking into the bed.

If you want a firmer bed, get the 8″ model. You will sleep more on top of this mattress. If you’re heavier (i.e. closer to 230 lb), the 12″ model could be too soft for strict back and stomach sleeping.

    • Side Sleepers

We don’t think the 8″ model is good for side sleepers. The 10″ and 12″ versions will be far more ideal because they offer more pressure relief and have thicker comfort layers.

    • Combination Sleepers

We think this is a decent mattress for combo sleepers, as long as with the 8″ model they predominantly sleep on their back or stomach. With the 10″ and 12″ models, you should be fine regardless of which position you favor.

    Body Type Analysis

    • Heavy Individuals

We think the 8″ mattress will be okay once in a while for heavier people. Think guest bedroom or your kids bedroom while they’re away at college, but not for everyday use. While this bed has good support from the coils, it’s still only 8” thick, so it won’t be as durable and heavier folks may bottom out if they sit down or turn over too hard.

The 10″ is sort of in the same situation, but perhaps it’s a little better since you get an extra 2″ of foam. Still, not our favorite bed for heavy people.

While we aren’t thrilled with the 8″ and 10″ beds for heavy people, the 12″ should do fine. It has 8″ pocketed coils, which provide a good amount of support considering in most cases this is a sub-$500 mattress.

    • Petite And Smaller Individuals

All three beds will be perfectly fine options for kids and teens, but the 8″ bed will be fairly firm for anyone under 150 lb. We also think this is a good option for petite to average-sized college students because this bed already feels like a dorm bed.

    Linenspa Mattress Pricing

All three of these Linenspa mattresses are considered to be a budget bed. If you’re okay with proceeding without the 100-night trial period or any other frills of that nature, we think this bed is a good bang for your buck. Here’s a pricing breakdown by size for the 12″ model:

The price of mattresses sold on Amazon tends to fluctuate, sometimes day by day. Keep your eye on this bed for a bit to see pricing trends. We noticed a queen size 12″ model tends to hover around $350, which is right around MSRP, as shown in the chart above, but can sometimes dip cheaper.

You can click here to check current prices on Amazon for the 12” models. From what we’ve seen, the prices hover between $180 and $250 for the queen size.

    Linenspa Hybrid Mattress Review Verdict

The 8″ bed is a good bang for your buck, as long as you’re a predominantly back or stomach sleeper, who is petite to medium-sized. It’s not going to work for couples, but if you have a kid’s room, guest bedroom or college dorm that needs a mattress, this is a great option. It could also be a good bed for an Airbnb property.

If price is not an issue, the 10″ model is undeniably better than the 8″ one. It’s a little softer, more pressure relieving, and we think will be a smarter pick for most people. It’s not our favorite bed ever, but it’s a nice solution if you’re on a budget and need a coil bed.

If we could only choose one of the three, the 12″ is the one we’d pick, no question. It’s pretty comfortable, supportive and checks most of the baseline boxes that you’d want in a bed.

    • BBB Rating: Linenspa has an A+ rating on the BBB.
    • Amazon Reviews: The mattresses all have at least a 4 rating out of 5 stars on Amazon, and buyers rave about the value for the price. Many say it’s a comfortable mattress, though there were some complaints about the lack of trial period and the overall durability.

    Linenspa Company Information

Linenspa has to be a top five mattress brand on Amazon. Its mattresses are everywhere. And for good reason—they’re cheap but pretty nice if you know what to expect. Here are some buying policies of Linenspa mattresses:

    • Shipping — Your new Linenspa mattress will ship straight to your doorstep for free, whether you are a Prime member or not. It will be compressed and rolled up in plastic, inside a cardboard box. Your mattress will need 24-48 hours to fully expand and air out.
    • Trial period and returns — This budget bed unfortunately does not come with the usual luxuries of other bed-in-a-box brands like Tuft & Needle or Casper. The mattress does not come with a standard 100-night trial period—you’re basically dealing with Amazon’s standard return window, which is 30 days.
    • Warranty — It comes with a 10-year warranty.

    Linenspa vs Other Mattresses

    • Linenspa vs Allswell

If our Linenspa mattress reviews didn’t have you completely convinced, Allswell might be one to consider. It’s a little more expensive, but not by much. The Allswell is made by Brooklynn Bedding, a respected mattress company. The bed has high-quality construction and pocketed springs. It works for all types of sleepers.

    • Linenspa vs Amazon Basics Memory Foam Mattress

This is another bed-in-a-box from Amazon that gets similar reports as Linenspa reviews. If you’re not sure you want a hybrid mattress, this all-foam bed might be a good alternative. It lands at a medium on the firmness scale and will work for all sleeping positions, although heavier people will likely want to stick to a hybrid mattress for better longevity.

    FAQs

    Frequently Asked Questions
How did Slumber Yard get these mattress?
They were sent to us for free so we could try them out because we’re a mattress review company. We are in no way obligated to write good or bad reviews about the beds we are sent. As always, all opinions are solely that of the Slumber Yard team.
How much does the 8u0022 mattress weigh?
Great question. A queen size Linenspa 8” Memory Foam & Innerspring mattress weighs 55 lb. A twin is around 33 lb and a king size weighs 70 lb. This is pretty light as far as mattresses go.
Do the coils in the 8u0022 and 12u0022 beds make noise?
Honestly, a bit. We slapped the bed and you could hear the springs. If this bothers you, we recommend you get a mattress pillow topper. They have some good cheap ones on Amazon. Just make sure you get the correct size to fit your mattress.
If I can’t return this mattress and I don’t like it, what should I do with it?
If it comes to that, we suggest using this as a truck bed or RV mattress or donating it to a charity. Avoid tossing it out because our landfills don’t need any more waste and chances are, someone out there will be happy to have a bed.
Where can I buy a Linenspa mattress?
You can buy them at various outlets online, including Amazon and Walmart.
What is the best Linenspa mattress?
The most popular mattress is the Linenspa 12″ Memory Foam Hybrid.
    Does it have certifications?
Yes. The foams are CertiPUR-US Certified.
Where do I try a Linenspa Mattress?
A few large retailers carry Linenspa products, like Home Depot, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target and Walmart. Check with your store to see if they might have mattresses in stock to try. Otherwise, you’ll have to order and try at home.
Is there a Linenspa Mattress discount code I can use?
Keep your eyes on Amazon because their prices change frequently! Sometimes you can score a better deal through them than through Linenspa directly.
How often will I find a Linenspa Mattress sale?
You might see a sale from time to time on Linenspa as well as Amazon. Your best bet is to check the sites often to see what kind of deal comes up. Also make sure to follow Linenspa on social media to see if they share any sales on there as well.
