My Green Mattress Overview
If you’re interested in a natural and organic mattress, the Natural Escape bed from My Green Mattress is worth a look. There’s a handful of eco-friendly beds on the market, and this one shouldn’t be left out of your search. This bed combines pocketed coils with latex foam and a really nice, button-tufted organic cotton cover.
Here is a quick video that explains what you should expect from the Natural Escape bed-in-a-box from MyGreenMattress.
Of course, there’s only so much detail we can squeeze into one video. Keep reading to learn more about this hybrid latex bed-in-a-box.
My Green Mattress Construction & Design
Getting into construction, let’s break down the Natural Escape piece by piece. This is a hybrid bed, so it has both coils and foam materials. The bed totals 11” thick and is comprised of three internal layers, plus the quilted cover:

- Base – The first layer is a three-zone coil system that allows for more give under your shoulders and lower body, and more support under your hips and trunk area. The coils around the perimeter of the bed are also stiffer to provide better edge support.
- Organic Dunlop latex foam – This serves as the middle of the bed.
- Wool – This acts as a fire retardant and cushioning layer.
- Cover – This is a nice quilted organic cotton. As we touched on in the last section, the My Green Mattress Natural Escape mattress comes with an organic cotton quilted cover. It’s nice and soft and smells pleasantly neutral, as opposed to synthetic. The cover isn’t removable, so if you need to clean up any spills, just spot clean with some mild detergent and warm water. Remember to soak up as much liquid as possible before going in with the spot cleaning. And you’ll also want to dab at the spot, rather than rub.
Being an eco-marketed mattress, it’s no surprise the Natural Escape comes with a handful of certifications. The textiles are Oeko-Tex certified, the cotton is GOTS certified organic, the company uses GOLS certified organic Dunlop latex and the bed as a whole is GREENGUARD Gold certified.
The My Green Mattress Natural Escape does have handles on the sides, but the company suggests that you use the handles only for rotating the bed. They aren’t meant for lifting and carrying the mattress, so they may rip if you try that.

My Green Mattress Firmness And Feel
In terms of feel, this bed is pretty bouncy and cushioned. It definitely has a distinct latex foam feel—it’s airy and almost spongy. The coils in its construction also add some noticeable support.
This is a firmer mattress thanks to the hybrid construction and latex foam layer (latex is more resilient than other types of foam). We rate the My Green Mattress Natural Escape mattress at around a medium-firm on our scale. Despite its firmness, it’s still a cushioned bed. You won’t sink in at all, though, so you won’t be feeling stuck on this mattress.

It’s responsive because of the coils and spongy latex foam. As you can see below, the top layers snap back into place quickly after pressure is released off the surface.
This means you won’t have any trouble at all switching sleeping positions or getting out of bed. You won’t have to worry about leaving a deep body impression behind when you turn over either.
Is My Green Mattress A Good Mattress For Couples?
My Green Mattress performs modestly for couples.
Motion Isolation
The Natural Escape mattress isn’t the best performer when it comes to motion isolation. Because of its coils and spongy latex foam, it does have a decent amount of bounce to it, so you will feel a bit of motion transfer from one side of the bed to the other.
If you or your partner is an especially sensitive sleeper, this is something to keep in mind. However, with that said, we think it will be fine for most couples out there.
Edge Support
This bed has stellar edge support thanks to its firmer construction and the perimeter of sturdy coils. You can spread out on this mattress without feeling like you’re about to roll off the edge
Temperature Regulation
Like the majority of beds we’ve tested, the My Green Mattress Natural Escape mattress sleeps at a neutral temperature. Both the coils and latex foam allow for better airflow than what you’d get with an all-foam bed. It doesn’t have any active cooling features, though, so it isn’t going to actually keep you cool if you tend to sleep extra warm. However, it won’t be the reason you heat up—that’s between you and your thermostat.
My Green Mattress Sleeper Type Analysis
Make sure to keep in mind your weight and sleeper style (stomach, back, side, etc.). Slumber Yard reviews cover how the mattress works for average body types. Different mattresses work for different body styles and sleep styles.

My Green Mattress Review Verdict
Overall, we’re fans of the Natural Escape natural mattress from MyGreenMattress.com. It’s a quality mattress that will be suitable for a pretty wide range of sleepers, however side sleepers should avoid it. We appreciate the eco-appeal and the unique three-zone support coil system. We think My Green Mattress belongs in the discussion with Avocado, Zenhaven, and other popular latex beds.

How We Test Mattresses
My Slumber Yard has been around since the beginning of the bed in a box craze. Our team has personally tested and reviewed over 175 mattresses so far, and we keep more than 150 beds in our office so we can compare them (and take afternoon naps).
When testing mattresses, we evaluate the following factors:
- Construction: We cut beds open to see what’s inside and how it’s made.
- Feel: We check if it has a stuck-in-the-mud memory foam feel, or if it’s more of a neutral foam or a plush pillow top, etc.
- Firmness: We have our own firmness scale and evaluate how that may vary depending on your body and sleeper type.
- Pressure relief: We test what’s the sweet spot for different body and sleeper types.
- Support: How that changes by body/sleeper type
- Edge Support: This is important for couples who share a bed. Would you roll out of the bed, or can you sleep confidently close to the edges?
- Motion Isolation: We use the water glass test to see how the bed fares with motion transfer. This is another important factor for couples who don’t want to wake up when they move.
- Temperature Regulation: We use a temperature gun to evaluate if the bed warms up, stays neutral or actively cools while you sleep.
- Noise: This could be an issue in beds with coils or innerspring.
- Off-Gassing: Some beds could have a smell for a few weeks after unpacking, and we try to warn you about it.
- Company policies: We also take into account policies such as shipping, returns, trial period and warranty.
- Value: We look at a bed’s price in the context of what it offers in terms of features and quality of materials and construction.
My Green Mattress sent us this bed to review. However, we have complete editorial control over our content. We don’t accept payment to say good or bad things about any of the products we review.
You can put your mattress on any firm flat surface. The floor is included in that list. We don’t judge. Some of us are still at that point in our lives, too. If you use anything with slats, be sure they are no more than 3” apart.
Most likely. It’s very, very rare for folks to have an allergic reaction to the natural latex used in these beds. If you’re concerned about it, you can ask MyGreenMattress.com for a sample of their latex foam and (with your doctor’s okay) see how your skin reacts to the material. Remember that you won’t be in direct contact with the foam, either. There’s a layer of wool and a quilted cover between you and the latex foam.
They sell a mattress topper made of latex foam, the Pure Echo mattress, bunk beds, a crib mattress, and a cotton waterproof mattress protector.
No, but keep in mind that they have the risk-free trial period, so if you don’t like it you can just return it and request the full refund. Unlike, Casper and Purple, you cannot purchase this at a major retailer such as Target or Mattress Firm.
The latex foam has the following: Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) certification and Oeko-Tex certification. The cover also has two certifications of note: Global Organic Textile Standard certification (for the organic cotton) and the Oeko-Tex certification (for the wool). The entire bed is GREENGUARD Gold Certified by UL environment—that is not easy to get.
It’s made in the USA.
They do. My Green Mattress gives you a 120-night trial period and the option to return the bed for a full refund if you’re not happy.
Natural Escape has a responsive and bouncy feel. It’s a durable, comfortable mattress.
Natural Escape is what we call a “medium-firm” which is about a 6-8/10 on the firmness scale. It’s definitely not overly firm, but it is firmer than a “medium.”
We think side sleepers will be plenty comfortable on the Natural Escape mattress. It should work for all sleeping styles.
