Honest MyPillow Mattress YouTube Review

Below find a video that outlines what you need to know about the MyPillow mattress.

However, keep in mind, we couldn’t squeeze all the details about this mattress into a single video. Keep reading to learn more about this online bed.

MyPillow Company Policies Overview

Even though MyPillow has a far different background and history than most bed-in-a-box companies, they still match what the majority of online brands offer in terms of policies. The MyPillow mattress typically ships for free via FedEx and arrives at your door rolled-up in a box. Once you see the box has arrived, just follow the lead of the Slumber Yard team below. The unboxing process is pretty straight forward. Just cut the plastic, unroll the bed and watch it inflate.

Next, MyPillow allows you to sleep on the bed for four months, if you purchase via their website, to see whether it’s a good fit for your sleeping preferences. If it works out, great, the mattress comes backed by a 10 year warranty. If you find the mattress isn’t your cup of tea, no problem, MyPillow should offer a 120-day money back guarantee.

What Is The MyPillow Mattress Made Of?

The MyPillow mattress is made up of four separate foam layers and totals 10″ thick. For the base layer, the bed uses a thick support foam. This layer is essentially the foundation for the mattress. Next is a transition comfort foam. This layer is still firm but it’s slightly softer than the support foam. On top of that is a softer transition foam. This layer is there to provide deep pressure relief and comfort for sleepers.

Finally, on top is a layer of what the company calls its High Airflow Comfort Foam. Not only does this layer serve as the true comfort layer for the bed but it’s also supposed to allow for a good amount of airflow near the surface.

Wrapping the four layers of foam is MyPillow’s QDS Fabric Cover. It’s soft, comfortable and stain-resistant.

MyPillow Mattress Price & Discounts

The MyPillow mattress is priced very competitively in the online mattress landscape. It’s in the same general price range as other popular bed-in-a-box mattresses like Leesa, Puffy and Purple. Here’s how pricing breaks down by size:

SizePrice (MSRP)
Twin$600
Twin XL$700
Full$800
Queen$900
King / Cal King$1,000

However, like most other online brands, MyPillow does offer coupon codes and discounts on their website. You can usually expect to receive a $50 to $100 discount on your mattress purchase. You can check Amazon for the MyPillow mattress and current prices. If you find the MyPillow mattress is still a little out of your budget, be sure to check out our list of the Best Cheap Mattresses.

Feel & Firmness Analysis

Overall, we think the MyPillow mattress has a soft, neutral-foam feel. The bed almost has a pillow top mattress feel to it even though it technically doesn’t have a traditional pillow top per se. Nevertheless, it’s a very comfortable mattress.

Soft, neutral-foam feel overall

A lot of consumers actually prefer beds that have more of a neutral or pillow top type feel. Some memory foam beds that provide an overwhelming conforming or contouring sensation turn consumers off. It really just comes down to personal preference.

mypillow mattress review firmness

In terms of firmness, we think the bed lands in-between a medium and medium-soft on our scale. It’s a plush mattress that is very accommodating. Let’s just put it this way – you won’t wake up in the middle of the night on this bed due to stiffness or irritation of your pressure points.

What Types Of Sleepers Will Like The Bed?

Given the bed lands on the softer side of the spectrum, it’s an excellent option for side sleepers. The bed provides a good amount of pressure relief and is comforting for your hips and shoulders.

Great option for side sleepers

The MyPillow mattress isn’t our favorite back and stomach sleeper bed, though. That’s not to say the mattress is a bad choice for these types of sleepers. We actually think the bed will work for all types of sleepers, including combo sleepers who rotate between all three positions throughout the night. With that said, back and stomach sleepers generally prefer slightly firmer beds (more in the medium to firm range). That’s because firmer beds tend to offer more support under the lower back and trunk of back and stomach sleepers.

Quick Note Regarding Body Types

Based on its all-foam construction, we think the MyPillow mattress is best for petite and medium sized individuals. Heavy people (250+ lb) usually require beds that use coils for their primary support structure. Large body types exert a lot more pressure and stress on beds than smaller sized individuals. As such, hybrid and innerspring beds are generally a better choice for these types of people since coils are more durable and supportive than the dense support foams that all-foam beds (like the MyPillow Mattress) utilize.

Does The MyPillow Mattress Sleep Cool?

Although the company uses a special foam top layer that is designed with airflow in mind, we think the MyPillow mattress sleeps temperature neutral. To be quite honest, this is where the majority of online mattresses fall in the temperature regulation scale. To put it simply, the MyPillow mattress won’t be the primary reason why you warm up at night or cool down.

Rather we think other factors will have more of an impact on your sleeping temperature. For example, if you live in a hot climate like Florida or you consistently use flannel sheets, you’ll most likely sleep on the warmer side. Conversely, if you constantly crank up your air conditioner or you live in a state like North Dakota, there’s a good chance you’ll sleep a bit cooler.

With that said, if you consider yourself a bonafide hot sleeper, be sure to check out our list of the Best Cooling Mattresses.

How Will Couples Fare On The Bed?

All in all, we think couples will be just fine on the MyPillow mattress. The bed passed our motion isolation and edge support tests with no major issues.

First, the bed does a good job of deadening movement. As you can see below, the water in the glass really doesn’t slosh around all that much despite the excessive movement on the surface of the mattress.

This is a positive sign for couples in which one or both partners tend to move around a lot throughout the night. The last thing you want is to be jostled awake every time your partner switches positions or gets up to go to the bathroom.

Next, the bed unfortunately has below average edge support. It’s certainly not the best we’ve ever seen, but you should be fine if you do not sleep along the side of the bed.

The My Pillow Mattress has below average edge support

Edge support is a particularly important consideration for couples who sleep on a full or twin XL. The better the edge support, the more usable surface area there is for you and your partner to spread out and have your own individual space.

MyPillow Bed Review Verdict

There’s no real standout features with the MyPillow mattress but it’s comfortable and accommodating nevertheless. If you’re looking for mattress that costs less than $1,000, you spend a lot of time on your side and memory foam isn’t really your thing, then this bed is a fine option.
