Nectar Mattress Review Outline
For some sleepers, there’s nothing like the feel of nestling, pressure-relieving memory foam that slowly conforms to the curves of your body. If that sounds like the bed you’re looking for, you might like what we have to say in our Nectar Mattress review.
Nectar has established itself as one of the most popular memory foam bed-in-a-box brands in the online market, and this bed provides a dense memory foam feel that memory foam fans know and love (with a price tag you might love even more).

Honest Nectar Mattress Video Review
Overall, Nectar is a popular online bed because it has just about everything someone would want in a memory foam mattress. It’s comfortable, good for all sleeper types and maybe the most appealing thing of all, affordable.
Nectar Mattress Feel And Firmness
Because Nectar has a unique foam feel, it’s difficult to grade the bed’s firmness, but we’d say it’s around a medium to medium-firm on the firmness scale. We think the mattress provides a comfy compromise between pressure-relieving and supportive.

With the three layers of memory foam, this bed has a distinct, dense memory foam feel. However, it’s a different memory foam feel in that it’s firm at first. When you lay down on the bed, you don’t immediately sink down.
In our Nectar mattress review, we found it takes about 4-6 seconds for it to soften and the memory foam to contour around your body’s shape. We think it’s a comfortable mattress. If you like the feel of memory foam, we’d bet good money you’d enjoy this bed.
What Does Nectar Mattress Feel Like?
Nectar Mattress Construction & Design
The Nectar mattress is an 11″ thick all-foam bed with four layers:

- Support foam – As the name implies, this layer serves as the foundation for the bed.
- Adaptive Hi Core Memory Foam – The proprietary material is basically a dense layer of memory foam that acts as a transition layer from the support foam below.
- Gel memory foam – Next is a layer of gel memory foam.
- Second layer of gel memory foam – This layer of gel memory foam is quilted into the cover.
Nectar Cover
Wrapping the four layers of foam is a removable, tencel blend cover. It’s soft and comfortable, and the square design gives the mattress a premium look.
Although the cover is technically removable, it’s best not to remove it. If you happen to spill something on it, spot clean it with water and a dab of mild detergent.
Is Nectar A Good Mattress For Couples?
Two factors that are important for couples to consider are motion isolation and edge support. We are happy to report that the Nectar bed performs well in both categories.
Motion Isolation
The bed does a good job of deadening movement. It passed our tests easily. This subject is important for people that share a bed with a person that is constantly moving, whether they’re switching sleeping positions, rolling over to turn off the light or getting up to grab a midnight snack.
Less movement means that both partners are more likely to have a peaceful night of sleep.
Edge Support
The Nectar memory foam mattress provides decent edge support in spite of its material. A lot of hybrid and innerspring beds are better in this department, but the Nectar is still pretty solid. As you approach the edge, there’s little compression, and you won’t feel as if you are going to slip off. But of course, if you want more room, you can always opt for a Nectar king mattress instead of a queen mattress.
Temperature Regulation
Generally, we rate beds as either warm, cool or neutral. In Nectar’s case, we’d give it a neutral designation. Memory foam is known for retaining heat and sleeping warm. However, because Nectar uses gel-memory foam and is fairly firm, we don’t think it’s an issue.
Bottom line, we don’t think you’ll heat up at night, nor will the bed do anything special to keep you sleeping cool.
Nectar Sleeper Type Analysis
As you progress through this review, it’s important to understand why your weight and sleeping style matters when mattress shopping. No two people are the same and thus will have differing opinions on how particular mattresses feel. In our reviews, we write considering an average-sized person (150-250 lb), but things can change for people who fall outside that range.
Side Sleepers
We think side sleepers will be fine on this mattress. Don’t let the initial firmness fool you. You slowly sink into the mattress, and the top layers do a good job of cradling your hips and shoulders. The bed provides a good amount of pressure relief. The bed will also get softer over time and will feel softer in warmer rooms.

We contend that, for a budget mattress, Nectar provides more than adequate support under your hips, trunk, and lower back. You sink into the mattress, but not to the point where your spine is no longer aligned.
Back And Stomach Sleepers
Overall, we think the Nectar mattress is a great option for people who spend a lot of time on their back or stomach. Generally, these types of sleepers prefer mattresses that land on the firmer side of the spectrum, and Nectar fits the bill. If you’re looking for an even firmer bed, check out our list of the Best Firm Mattresses.
Combination Sleepers
Given all that we discussed above, we think this mattress is ideal for all kinds of sleepers.
However, because the bed uses multiple layers of memory foam, sleepers who switch positions may find it requires a little more effort to switch. Overall, this isn’t a big deal. It’s common with memory foam mattresses.
Body Type Analysis
Heavy Individuals
On one side of the coin, you could argue that the Nectar bed is a good choice because it’s thicker and a little firmer than the average all-foam bed-in-a-box. Generally, the thicker and firmer a mattress is, the less likely a big sleeper will sink into the point where they lose proper alignment or even bottom out the bed.
On the other side of the coin, you could easily argue that a heavy person should go with a bed that contains coils instead, which is a very valid argument. Coil/spring mattresses are more supportive than dense foams and are also just more durable over the long haul. If pressed, we’d have to agree with the coil argument.
We pretty much always recommend heavy people go with a hybrid or innerspring bed. However, if you are dead set on an all-foam bed, the Nectar mattress is one of the better options out there.
Petite Individuals
Nectar is probably best for average and petite-sized individuals. Average-sized people (like Slumber Yard team members Matt and Jeff) find the mattress supportive and accommodating. Smaller-sized folks will like the bed as well, but keep in mind, it will feel slightly firmer to people who weigh less than 150 lb.
The only caveat we’d add is for extra petite side sleepers. People who weigh around 100 lb might not sink in enough to experience the pressure relief the top memory foam layers have to offer and feel that the Nectar mattress is too firm. If you want a bed that is great for petite side sleepers, read our guide to the Best Soft & Plush Mattresses.

We’ve reached the end of our Nectar mattress review, which begs the question, is Nectar worth it? Overall, we like the Nectar bed for true memory foam lovers (or people open to memory foam). For the price you pay, we think it’s an excellent value. In fact, we think so highly of the bed; it even made a few of our Best Mattress List. Obviously, though, if you’re going to get this bed, you’ll have to like the bed’s slow responding feel. We also think it’s ideal for sleepers who weigh under 230 lbs, especially if you like a slightly firmer feel.

Other Beds From Nectar
Nectar Lush
Nectar Lush is a newer mattress than the original. In many ways, it’s an upgraded version. It has higher quality materials and more advanced construction. It also has some cooling elements to help you keep cool, although it still sleeps temperature neutral instead of being a true cooling mattress. Because it’s an upgraded version, it costs more than the original. You can check out our Nectar Lush vs. Nectar comparison for more info.

Nectar Sleep Company Information
Because buying a mattress online can be difficult without knowing exactly how the bed will feel to you no matter how many Nectar mattress reviews you read, Nectar Sleep has company policies that help you know if the bed is right for you:
- Shipping – The Nectar mattress ships for free and will arrive compressed in a protective bag. We have received a few Nectar bed complaints about shipping times being slow. If you do order a Nectar bed by mail, know that it may take a week or two to arrive. After it arrives, let it inflate for about 24-48 hours before using it.
- Trial period – Most mattress companies give you about three months. Nectar Sleep gives you a 365-night trial period to test out the bed.
- Returns – If you don’t like the mattress for any reason during that time period, contact customer service to arrange for someone to pick up the mattress from your home free of charge. The return and refund process shouldn’t take longer than one or two weeks.
- Warranty – Nectar backs its mattresses with a “Forever Warranty.” Basically, in years 1-10, the company will replace the mattress if defects are found. In years 10+, the company will either repair or re-cover the bed and cover all transportation costs if manufacturing defects or material failures are discovered.
Where are Nectar mattresses made? From what we can discern, Nectar beds are manufactured overseas, but the company does operate inspection facilities located in the United States. Also, the foams used in the mattress are CertiPUR-US certified, meaning they are free from harmful chemicals like ozone depleters, mercury and lead.

FAQs
We think so, particularly if you are a sleeper under 230 lbs on a tight budget and like a traditional memory foam feel.
Our editors rate this bed somewhere between a medium and medium-firm, about a 6/10 on the soft to firm scale. That means it should be good for all sleeping positions but ideal for back and stomach sleepers.
This is a memory foam mattress, so it has a dense/viscous feel that you’d normally associate with memory foam. It reminds us of a TempurPedic mattress, just with a lower price tag.
Shipping and returns are super easy! Shipping is free, and you get 365 nights to try out Nectar before you need to make a final decision. If you don’t like the bed inside the first year, you can return it for a full refund!
Last we checked, the Nectar mattress is only available to purchase online. That means you won’t find this particular bed at your local brick-and-mortar mattress store.
It usually takes between one and three days. This is typical of memory foam. Just let it sit out by itself, and in a day or two, it will be fully expanded.
We received the Nectar mattress for free from the company. However, we did not accept any money to say good or bad things about the bed. We produced this review completely independent of any and all mattress brands.
The Nectar mattresses range from 45 lb for a twin all the way up to 89 lb for a Cal king.
