Shipping, Returns & Warranty For This Bed

Nest Bedding is one of the more popular online mattress brands. They make numerous beds, but Love & Sleep is their budget mattress that’s designed to compete head-to-head with Tuft & Needle, Tulo, and a few others.

Like pretty much every other online mattress, Love & Sleep ships for free and is rolled up and compressed in a cardboard box. From there, all you do is cart the box inside and remove all of the packaging. The unboxing process is easy and actually pretty fun. Be sure to let your mattress decompress and air out for about 24-48 hours before sleeping on it.

From date of delivery, Nest gives you a 100-night trial period to test out the mattress and see if it’s the best bed for you. Remember, it can take your body several weeks to adjust to the new mattress. If you decide that this isn’t the best bed for you and you don’t want to keep it, simply contact Nest Bedding for a complete refund and return. They will also send someone to retrieve your mattress, then remove it and try to donate it to a local charity in need—all for free.

If you love your Love & Sleep bed and decide to keep it, it will be covered by a lifetime warranty and lifetime comfort guarantee. You can read more about these on Nest’s website.

Also, if you ever have any questions about the Love & Sleep bed or any other Nest mattress, you can call the number 1-888-992-2001. This is the company’s customer support line. Nest Bedding employs a staff of individuals to answer consumer questions and help them decide which mattress best suits their needs. If you decide to go the phone route, be sure to mention the code SY10 for 10% off your purchase.

Love & Sleep Price And Coupon Code

While we wouldn’t consider Love & Sleep a luxury mattress, it’s clearly built to a higher standard than a lot of Amazon mattresses, for example. Not only is it manufactured in the United States, but it’s also thicker than a lot of foam beds (more on that below). We mention this because it’s all part of the reason that we think Love & Sleep is a really nice value. Here’s a pricing breakdown before you apply any discounts.

SizePrice (MSRP)
Twin$499
Twin XL$599
Full$699
Queen$799
King / Cal King$949
Split King / Cal King$529/side

We’d consider Love & Sleep affordable as is, but Nest also runs promotions on the bed from time to time. You can check NestBedding.com to see current offers. Typically you will see the queen size bed come down to around $750 after applying a coupon code. That won’t make it the most affordable bed out there, but it does make it more competitive with the likes of Tuft & Needle, Tulo, and Casper Element.

Inside The Love & Sleep Foam Mattress

Love & Sleep is an 10-11″ mattress made entirely of foam. For the record, most all-foam beds are in the 9-10″ range. A few examples used to include Casper Element and Leesa.

Love & Sleep starts with dense polyurethane foam, which acts as the foundation for the mattress. Next is a transition layer and then Energex foam, which sort of has the pressure relief of memory foam, but is a lot more responsive and doesn’t trap heat as much.

Construction breakdown of the Love & Sleep mattress

All of the foams are made in the USA and are CertiPUR-US certified, which means they’ve been tested by a credible 3rd party for any known harmful chemicals. Nest Bedding mattresses do not contain any flame retardant chemicals. Instead, they use hydrated silica as a fire barrier, which protects the entire mattress. In the event of a fire, this barrier melts onto itself and suffocates the oxygen needed for fire to burn.

The Love & Sleep mattress has also earned a Greenguard Gold Certification and NAAPA (National Association of Academic Psychiatric Administrators) Award.

Love & Sleep has a soft cover that incorporates a phase-change material, which helps with temperature regulation (more on this below).

It’s rare to see a budget bed with a cooling cover

The cover is made of polyester-cotton blend material, and has a nice wavy pattern on it. It is non-removable, so if you have any accidents, just spot clean with some mild soap and warm water.

Nest also sells mattress protectors on their website that help to ward off stains and discoloration caused by the oil from your skin. Our only issue with mattress protectors is that they tend to change the firmness profile of the bed since you’re adding an extra waterproof layer. You can also check out mattress protectors on Amazon and other retailers.

It’s a nice cover, but we wouldn’t consider it premium

Overall, we like the cover on the Love & Sleep mattress, but it does tend to snag easily. If you look closely in the image above, you can see the lint and snags. It’s not a big deal, but we thought it was worth mentioning since we haven’t really experienced this with many other mattresses.

Firmness Options For The Love & Sleep Mattress

Unlike a lot of bed-in-a-box mattresses, Love & Sleep is available in two different firmness levels: Medium and Firm. The Medium option is, unsurprisingly, in between a medium and medium-firm on the soft-to-firm spectrum. The Firm option is closer to a proper medium-firm.

nest bedding love and sleep mattress review firmness

As for overall feel of the bed, it’s pretty neutral, but still very comfortable. It doesn’t feel like a memory foam mattress or a latex mattress. Rather, it just feels like a giant slab of softer foam. In other words, it has no distinct feel the way so many of these budget mattresses do.

It also responds quickly to pressure being applied and removed. This is important because it indicates that switching sleeping positions on the bed will take very little effort. A lot of memory foam beds will hold their shape and therefore require you to exert more energy to switch from your back to your side, for example. This can leave you feeling restless. The good news is Love & Sleep is highly responsive, so rotating positions shouldn’t be an issue for you at all.

Will Back/Stomach Sleepers Like It?

The Love & Sleep mattress is great for back and stomach sleepers. This is because it’s on the firmer side (especially if you opt for the Firm version), which helps to keep the spine in neutral alignment.

Ideal for stomach (and back) sleepers

Keep in mind that softness/firmness is relative to your weight. The heavier an individual is, the more they sink into the mattress, so the softer the bed feels. The lighter an individual is, the more they lay on top of the mattress, making it feel firmer.

Thoughts On Side Sleepers And Combo Sleepers

Love & Sleep is just fine for combo sleepers, especially if they stay predominantly on their back or stomach. Because the bed is so responsive, as mentioned previously, moving around is effortless.

nest bedding love and sleep mattress review sleeping positions

We can’t recommend Love & Sleep to strict side sleepers. It just doesn’t offer enough pressure relief under your shoulders and hips. To be fair, though, for anyone in the 250 lb zone, Love & Sleep will likely work if you plan to sleep on your side, it just wouldn’t be our first choice. If you’re a strict side sleeper, make sure to check out our Best Mattress for Side Sleepers list.

Is Nest Bedding Love & Sleep Good for Heavier People?

Eh, not really. In general, we only recommend heavy people look into hybrid/coil mattresses, as these tend to provide more long term support. That’s not a knock on Love & Sleep—it will certainly work for the right person. It’s just not a mattress for heavy people. It is designed for individuals weighing under 250 lb. If that’s you, Love & Sleep should be A-OK.

Nest actually does make several other mattresses that we would recommend for heavy people, however. These include the Nest Hybrid Latex, Nest Alexander Hybrid, and others.

Sleeping Temperature For This Bed

We’d call it more temperature neutral. They have the “Thermic Phase Change Cooling Fabric” in their cover, which helps to dissipate body heat through the mattress. We think it works well enough to keep you from heating up excessively, but not enough to actually make it a cooling mattress.

Is It A Good Mattress for Couples?

Overall, we’d say this is a good bed for couples. The edge support is pretty good on this bed. This means when you and your partner share a full size bed and you’re constantly fighting over who gets to hog the middle, the other isn’t falling off the side onto the floor because the edge of the mattress can’t support them.

nest bedding love and sleep mattress review edge support
Pretty good edge support for a budget foam mattress

The other reason that we say Love & Sleep is suitable for couples is that it’s fairly good at isolating motion. As you can see below, in our very scientific test, motion does transfer through the mattress, but not enough that we worry about light sleepers using this mattress.

Our Final Thoughts On Nest Love & Sleep

This is a solid mattress for the money, and the name is pretty fantastic, too. We’d specifically recommend this bed for back, stomach, and combination sleepers that want a neutral-feeling bed. If you’re working with a limited budget, Love & Sleep is one of the better options out there. It might win outright on price, but it has a lot going for it.

Nest Love & Sleep Competitors

Tuft & Needle — This is the bed that Love & Sleep reminds us of most, however, there are some notable differences. For instance, Tuft & Needle is more affordable (typically) by about $50, give or take. Love & Sleep comes in multiple firmness options, has the lifetime warranty, and clocks in at just over 10″ thick. We can’t tell you what to do, but we can tell you that this will be a difficult decision to make.

Tulo — While they might not feel the same, they feel similar, though, Tulo has a little memory foam thrown in, while Love & Sleep is as neutral as it gets. Both are offered in multiple firmness levels and both are good options for medium and petite size individuals. One difference we can note is that Tulo has the soft option, which is the softest bed out of the five (3 for Tulo and 2 for Nest Bedding). That said, we have not seen hardly any other beds that have a lifetime warranty and are sold at the price point of the Love & Sleep mattress.

Casper Element — This is the entry level foam bed from Casper, the most popular bed-in-a-box brand online. The obvious thing to point out between these two is the Casper Element is actually more affordable—even after discount—than Love & Sleep, given that the Element has an MSRP of $600 for the queen size mattress.

Lucid Gel Memory Foam —This is what we would consider a truly cheap mattress. It’s only constructed with two layers and has a bland cover. It also is made in China, while the three beds above—and Love & Sleep—are all made in the United States. That said, it actually is offered in multiple firmness levels and thicknesses and is one of the best-selling mattresses on Amazon. If you want a true memory foam feel, that’s certainly what the Lucid Gel Memory Foam Mattress offers.

Tomorrow Sleep Memory Foam — There are two beds available from Tomorrow Sleep: an all-foam version and a hybrid version. In this section we’re speaking about the all-foam model. It’s the most affordable of the two and has a memory foam feel. Really, the only reason it’s a competitor to Love & Sleep is the price—it’s a budget bed as well.

FAQs

How did the Slumber Yard get this mattress?

We were sent Love & Sleep by Nest Bedding so that we could review it. We retain complete control of our content, however, and do not accept payment for positive or negative reviews.

What can I put my Nest Bedding Love & Sleep mattress on?

Great question. We recommend mattresses be used on breathable foundations, which allows for proper airflow, which will help keep you cool and keep the mattress mold-free. Go for a bed frame with slats or ventilation boards that are 3-4” apart max. This will make sure your Nest Bedding bed meets warranty and comfort trial expectations.

Do I need to flip or rotate my Nest Bedding Love & Sleep mattress?

You do not need to flip your Love & Sleep mattress ever. It has a specific construction that is meant to go from bottom to top. Also, the cover is non-removable, so make sure the correct side is always up. We do recommend you rotate your mattress every 3-6 months to prevent sagging or permanent indentations.

Can I try the Love & Sleep mattress at a store?

Yes! Nest Bedding has several showrooms spread throughout the United States. On the West Coast, they have stores in San Francisco, Berkeley, Palo Alto, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Seattle, and others. On the East Coast, you can test it in New York and Chicago—and Miami in the future.

What is this mattress made of?

Nest Love & Sleep is an all-foam mattress with a soft foam feel.

What certifications does Nest Love & Sleep have?

The entire bed is GREENGUARD Gold Certified by the UL Environment. The foams are CertiPUR-US Certified.

How firm is this mattress?

Love & Sleep is a fairly firm mattress, but it is available in two different firmness options: Medium and Firm.
