TempurPedic Mattress Reviews

TempurPedic is arguably one of the most popular mattress brands in the world and practically became a household name after their advertisement featuring a woman jumping on a bed with a wine glass went viral (before the word viral was even a thing). The mattress industry has significantly changed since then, and quite frankly, so has a TempurPedic mattress. Now, they have to compete with the likes of Casper and Nectar, well-known bed-in-a-box mattress brands that take the hassle out of in-person mattress shopping.

Our TempurPedic reviews will revolve around the five mattresses offered in their catalog and why you might purchase one over the other. You can also find individual TempurPedic bed reviews on our site, where we get more specific on each one. Below, we reveal our unbiased Tempurpedic mattress reviews and give you the confidence to decide whether you should or shouldn’t buy this memory foam mattress.

Comparing TempurPedic’s Mattress Models

Recently, the company has simplified its mattress lineup and now has six memory foam models to choose from. Below is a graphic that depicts some of the differences between five of those models.

TempurCloud

It’s a bed-in-a-bag mattress that’s TempurPedic’s answer to the online mattress boom where mattresses are delivered compactly inside a box or bag. It’s more affordable than other TempurPedic models, but it also omits the cooling cover.

TempurAdapt

Available in both foam and hybrid models, the Tempur-Adapt is the entry-level mattress in their popular Adapt line. It comes with a cooling cover and free white-glove delivery. We think it’s best for all sleeping positions.

ProAdapt

This is the most popular bed in the Adapt lineup. It’s available in foam and hybrid models, but you can also choose between a soft, medium, and firm firmness level. Like the other beds in the Adapt line, ProAdapt comes with a cool-to-the-touch cover and free white glove delivery.

LuxeAdapt

The brand says this is the “most advanced” bed. It’s very similar to the ProAdapt. It doesn’t come with as many firmness and construction options, but it is the thickest Adapt mattress. However, the price tag is pretty huge. We’d recommend this bed to side sleepers or back and stomach sleepers who have disposable income.

ProBreeze

This TempurPedic mattress model takes their cooling tech up another notch and incorporates temperature-relieving agents into every layer of the mattress. If you’re a real hot sleeper with a high budget, this could be your favorite TempurPedic mattress. It’s around a medium firmness, and comes in a foam or hybrid model.

LuxeBreeze

Meant to keep you even cooler than the ProBreeze (8 degrees vs 3), this bed is best for side or back/stomach sleepers who want serious cooling relief and don’t mind paying a serious price tag. Though, its all-foam design makes ProBreeze a better cooling option for heavier folks.

The Soft option is closer to a true medium on our soft/firm scale. It is the best option for strict side sleepers, including petite individuals. The medium and medium hybrid options are closer to a medium-firm and should work for a variety of sleeping positions, as long as you know they’re not soft. The firm models are truly firm and are best for back and stomach sleepers.

Tempur-Cloud Mattress

If you want the efficiency of a bed-in-a-box mattress with the reliability and quality of a TempurPedic mattress, the Tempur-Cloud is the way to go. It delivers that fan-favorite memory foam feel at a fraction of the cost of their other beds.

Design And Construction

This TempurPedic Cloud mattress is a standard 10” thick and stacked three foam layers.

  • The first layer is a thick layer of dense foam to support the remaining layers (and your body)
  • The second layer is meant to soften up the dense slab of foam in the base
  • Their Tempur Comfort layer, which provides their signature memory foam feel

Feel And Firmness

  • This TempurPedic mattress will have a contouring, hugging foam feel
  • We rated this bed around a medium, making it ideal for all sleeper positions of average size.
  • If you’re petite, we only recommend it to back and stomach sleepers.
  • Heavy sleepers over 230 lbs might want another TempurPedic model in a hybrid version.

Price

This is the most affordable bed in TempurPedic’s lineup. Prices start at around $1,700 for a twin and go up to about $2,400 for a Cal king. Though, keep an eye out for discounts around holidays!

TempurAdapt Mattress Line

In the TempurPedic mattress Adapt line, you have the Tempur-Adapt, the Tempur ProAdapt, and the Tempur LuxeAdapt. You can find hybrid and all-foam models here, and they are more affordable than the Breeze options while also providing effective cooling relief. If you weigh over 230 lbs, you’ll really love the extra support the TempurPedic hybrid mattresses provide.

Design And Construction

The exact construction will depend on the TempurAdapt model you choose. Each one is three layers thick, and the base will either be composed of dense foam or steel pocketed coils. They will also each have a Smart Climate Dual cover to help the mattress feel cooler.

  • Tempur-Adapt is 11” thick and available in a hybrid or all-foam model
  • ProAdapt is 12” thick and available in a hybrid or all-foam model
  • LuxeAdapt is 13” thick and only available in a foam model

Feel And Firmness

  • Tempur-Adapt is rated a medium, making it suitable for all sleeper positions.
  • ProAdapt has three firmness options: Soft, Medium, and Firm. This means you can choose the best firmness level according to your sleeping position.
  • LuxeAdapt comes in Soft and Firm. We recommend Soft to side sleepers and Firm to back and stomach sleepers.

Price

Pricing will vary depending on the specific Tempurpedic mattress you choose.

  • Tempur-Adapt — Prices start at $1,699 for a twin and go up to $3,389 for a split king
  • ProAdapt — Prices start at $2,499 for a twin and go up to $4,998 for a split CA king
  • LuxeAdapt — Prices start at $3,299 for a twin long and go up to $6,598 for a split CA king

Breeze TempurPedic Bed

An overhead look at the TempurPedic Pro Breeze mattress

If your middle name is luxury and you also have trouble getting through the night without feeling overwhelmingly hot, you may be interested in the Breeze TempurPedic mattresses. The ProBreeze has a moderate firmness level and suits all body types, while the LuxeBreeze is either really soft or really firm and suits those who weigh under 230 lbs. best. We think the covers on these beds are softer than the Adapt line, and they sleep very coolly.

Design And Construction

The ProBreeze is available in foam or hybrid models, while you can only get a foam LuxeBreeze mattress.

  • ProBreeze is 12” thick, while LuxeBreeze is around 13”.
  • Both are comprised of four different layers: breathable, perforated TEMPUR-APR foam (or coils), TEMPUR-CM foam to release heat and humidity stuck in the bed, a phase-change layer, and an ultra cooling cover.

Firmness And Feel

  • Both have a traditional memory foam feel similar to the beds in the TempurPedic mattress Adapt line. You sink into the layers, and they feel like they’re hugging your body, but the foam takes a few moments to activate.
  • ProBreeze is rated around a medium, while LuxeBreeze is only offered in Soft and Firm.
  • Side sleepers should opt for ProBreeze or the Soft LuxeBreeze.
  • Back and stomach sleepers should consider either ProBreeze or LuxeBreeze for a firmer profile.

Price

The Breeze models from TempurPedic are the most expensive beds they have to offer. Honestly, we can’t imagine many people wanting to spend this price. The LuxeBreeze is especially one of the most expensive mattresses we’ve ever tested. Honestly, we think it’s so similar to the ProBreeze that it’s not entirely worth the money to us unless you really need its extra cooling capabilities.

  • ProBreeze — Prices start at $3,499 for a twin long mattress and go up to $6,998 for a split CA king
  • LuxeBreeze — Prices start at $4,499 for a twin long and go up to $8,998 for a split CA king.

TempurPedic Reviews Verdict

As you can see, TempurPedic has a lot to offer memory foam lovers, whether you sleep on your side and weigh 105 lbs or you’re an extremely hot-sleeping individual who favors their back. Though, most of the TempurPedic mattresses are pricey.

Their most affordable price is still more expensive than your typical foam bed-in-a-box mattress, so we think you’re also paying a higher price just for the TempurPedic name itself. Though, if you’re in the market for a very high-quality memory foam mattress that sleeps cooler than the traditional beds, we suggest you give TempurPedic a try! You always have their risk-free trial to fall back on.

TempurPedic Mattress Pricing

TempurPedic beds are typically on the pricier side, especially compared to normal bed-in-a-box mattress standards. We wouldn’t consider it an expensive mattress, especially when you compare it to other beds such as the Beautyrest Black or Purple 4. The queen-sized Tempur-Adapt has a mid-range price of $2,199. Here’s a pricing breakdown for the different TempurPedic mattresses.

SIZEPRICEAVERAGE
Twin$1,699$810
Twin XL$1,699$1,160
Full$2,049$1,184
Queen$2,199$1,389
King$2,899$1,751
Cal King$2,899$1,833

TempurPedic Bed Sizes

TempurPedic mattresses are available in all of the typical US sizes ranging from a twin up to a king and even a split California king option. Here’s a look at the dimensions and weight for each size of Tempur-Adapt so you have an idea of what they’ll weigh (W x L):

SizeDimensions and Weight

Twin XL38″ x 80″ (52 lb)
Full54″ x 75″ (67 lb)

Tempur-Pedic Hybrid Sleeper Analysis

Here are the sleeper positions we think TempurPedic works best for! You should always consider your primary sleeping position before buying a mattress to ensure it’s soft or firm enough for you.

Back And Stomach Sleepers

Most TempurPedic mattresses have a medium profile or a firmer, more supportive feel. It’s not so firm that it won’t conform to the shape of your body, but it’s also not so soft that you’ll feel extra pressure under your lower back. In fact, we would argue that this is a nice bed for back/stomach sleepers, and individuals with low back pain because they offer plenty of support.

Side Sleepers

The TempurPedic beds would not be our favorite mattresses for side sleepers, particularly individuals that weigh under around 160 lb. It doesn’t offer a ton of pressure relief for your shoulders and hips unless you’re closer to the 200 lb mark.

Combo Sleepers

As for combination sleepers that rotate between several positions at night, the memory foam might cause some resistance, but we think you’ll be fine if you like memory foam.

As a counterpoint, there’s a chance that the memory foam feel will help you sleep better if you’re prone to rotating around. We say this because the indentation that your body creates can almost act as a weighted blanket, making you feel more secure and subconsciously less inclined to move around. This completely depends on the sleeper.

Can Tempur-Pedic Handle Heavy People?

Yes. TempurPedic beds are suitable mattresses for heavy people, especially if you like memory foam. The springs in the TempurPedic hybrid beds provide great support and ensure that the bed will be more durable than your average online mattress. And, at the risk of stating the obvious, because the TempurPedic mattresses can handle heavier people, it can clearly also take on individuals weighing under 250 lb.

What About Petite To Average Size People?

The answer here is yes, but remember, petite sized individuals under 150 lbs will typically find beds to be firmer. So, keep that in mind when you’re trying to find the proper firmness level. We also recommend either the foam or the hybrid for these body types, since both will be perfectly supportive.

Buying A Tempur-Pedic Mattress Online

All of the Tempur-Pedic Mattresses come with free shipping and a 90-night trial period. TempurCloud will ship in a TempurPedic bag, while the other beds will come with free white glove delivery.

The Tempur-Cloud, however, could take up to three days to expand.

After the mattress arrives, you will have 90 nights to make your mind up about it. Three months should be more than long enough to allow your body to adjust to the bed and come to a final conclusion.

Regardless of whether you order through TempurPedic.com or some other vendor, the mattress is backed by a 10-year warranty, which is about the standard length of a warranty for a brand new mattress.

Frequently Asked Questions
How did the Slumber Yard get this mattress?

We were sent the Tempur-Adapt by US-Mattress.com and the Tempur-ProAdapt, Tempur-ProBreeze, Tempur-LuxeBreeze, and Tempur-Cloud from Tempur-Pedic so that we could review them all.

Can I customize the size or shape of my Tempur-Pedic mattress?

You can! Tempur-Pedic is partnered with Artisans as a customizing partner. Artisan can customize any Tempur-Pedic mattress to any specifications on shape, size, or thickness. Contact Artisans to learn more.

What other sleep-related products does Tempur-Pedic sell on their website?

As of early 2019, Tempur-Pedic also sold sheets, adjustable bed frames, pillows, a mattress topper called the TEMPUR-Topper Supreme, neck pillows, seat cushions, comforters, and much more.

Are Tempur-Pedic beds worth the money?

Tempur-Pedic has several -price points for its line of five beds. We think that the Cloud is probably overpriced for a simple foam mattress, and the Luxe may be overpriced because it doesn’t offer much more in the way of luxury than the other beds. However, we think the ProAdapt is great quality and fairly priced for all that it offers.

Does Tempur-Pedic offer financing options?

They do, yes, at least according to their website. It’s really common for mattress brands to offer financing or partner with a financing company. They understand that a mattress is a large purchase and that not everyone will be able to pay in-full on day one.

What are the advantages to buying an adjustable bed frame with a Tempur-Pedic mattress?

There are a few reasons why you might consider bundling an adjustable bed frame with the Tempur-Pedic mattress. For starters, as mentioned above, in some cases Tempur-Pedic offers discounts the more you spend. So, if you think that in the future you will be buying the adjustable bed frame anyways, you might just want to get the deal now. The other reason is that the adjustable bed frames allow you to more comfortably read and watch TV in bed. They can also help to alleviate certain aches and pains if you get them in the right angles.

Does Tempur-Pedic take orders over the phone?

According to Tempur-Pedic’s website, you can call 888-811-5053 to place an order over the phone. The company doesn’t stipulate what products you can buy, but we assume that mattresses are one of them.

Can I buy Tempur-Pedic products on Amazon, eBay, or Craigslist?

It looks like Tempur-Pedic itself does not sell via these outlets, but you might be able to find authorized distributors or resellers that do. That said, it looks like products purchased through Amazon, eBay, or Craigslist would not be covered by Tempur-Pedic’s warranties nor can they be returned.

What does a Tempur-Pedic mattress feel like?

Tempur-Pedic’s entire brand is centered around memory foam. As such, all of the beds have a dense/viscous feel. You slowly sink in and the beds conform to the shape of your body.

Is Tempur-Pedic good for side sleepers?

Yes. Most of the beds from Tempur-Pedic should be comfortable to side sleepers. We would like to point out that if you get a “firm” model then it’s designed more for back and stomach sleepers than side sleepers.

Does Tempur-Pedic offer discounts on its website?

Yes, Tempur-Pedic does from time-to-time offer discounts and promotions. In fact, when we’re publishing this review in early 2019, if you purchased a mattress, you could get credit toward other accessories such as adjustable bed frames and a discount on pillows. Promotions may vary, but incentives are frequent, particularly around holidays and if those incentives get you to purchase other Tempur-Pedic products and increase your cart value. You can always check out our Mattress Deals page to see what discounts we spotted today.

Where can I buy Tempur-Pedic products?

Tempur-Pedic products are sold all over the place, including online at Tempur-Pedic’s website, US-Mattress, and elsewhere. There are also mattress stores in almost every city that carry some Tempur-Pedic products. For instance, JC Penney, Ashley Homestore and Macy’s all carry some Tempur-Pedic products. Tempur-Pedic also has their own retail stores.

Is memory foam good for pressure relief?

Yes, memory foam can definitely offer pressure relief, but you’ll need to make sure that you buy the right firmness for your body weight and sleep style to best relieve your unique pressure points.
