Tuft And Needle Pillow Review Overview

    Honest YouTube Video Review

There’s plenty to read about in the text below, but here’s a short video that we produced as well.

If You Buy The Tuft And Needle Pillow

Tuft & Needle is most widely known for their soft foam mattresses: the original Tuft and Needle mattress and Tuft and Needle Mint. Since their success with their mattresses, they’ve expanded into sleeping accessories like furniture and bedding, including the pillow that we’re reviewing in this post.

When you order this Tuft and Needle Pillow, it’ll ship completely free to you via FedEx. From the day it arrives at your doorstep, you’ll have a 100-night trial period to test it out and make sure you love it. If you don’t love it, don’t fret, because you can return it. Just contact the company, and they’ll send you a FedEx return label. You can expect a full refund within a couple days of shipping it out.

If you end up loving the pillow and keeping it (most people do—around 90%), it will be protected by a 3-year limited warranty that covers defects resulting from defective materials or workmanship on the pillow. You can read more about their policies on TuftandNeedle.com.

What’s Inside The Tuft And Needle Pillow?

Tuft and Needle is well known for their true neutral-foam feel, which they achieve with their T&N adaptive foam. Most other brands (like Casper mattress) tend to include a layer of memory foam, which doesn’t give it a memory foam feel, but means that it doesn’t have a true neutral-foam feel, either. Anyway, what we’re saying here is sometimes it’s difficult to find a true neutral-foam feel, so Tuft & Needle does a good job of standing out from the pack with their mattress, topper, and pillow.

    tuft and needle pillow review
JD taking a snooze on with the Tuft & Needle pillow.

The Tuft & Needle Pillow is made of the same T&N adaptive foam that the flagship mattress is made with. It feels dense, but is still responsive and soft. It’s denser than your normal feather down pillow, but not as dense as a memory foam pillow—it’s right in the middle. We wouldn’t describe it as fluffy, though. It’s pretty light, too, only about 4 lb for the standard size and 7 lb for the king size.

The cover it comes with is pretty nice. It’s made of micro polyamide and polyester. It’s white, soft, and machine washable, which makes it easy to keep things clean. To wash, remove the cover from the pillow (the pillow isn’t machine washable, but the thick cover should prevent the pillow from needing to be washed) and wash it in cold water with like colors. Don’t bleach it, and hang to dry. If you wanted, you could even put another cotton or silk pillowcase on top of the provided pillow cover, so that it matches the rest of your sheet set.

The foam of this pillow is tested and certified by CertiPUR-US and OEKO-TEX to meet high standards in physical performance and environmental stewardship. It’s also certified to be free from known harmful chemicals.

Also, in the video above you can see that the foam of this pillow is aerated and infused with graphite, which is meant to keep it cool. We’d say it’s more temperature neutral to cool (because of the airflow). You definitely won’t get sweaty with this pillow like you might with a memory foam pillow, but it’s not actively cooling like the Sealy Chill Pillow.

    Loft Of The Tuft Pillow

People are all different heights, weights, and sizes, so it’s tricky when it comes to who this pillow is best for. The Tuft & Needle Pillow is also non-adjustable, so there’s no way to “fix it” like you could with the Purple Plush Pillow or the REM-Fit Pillow.

Uncompressed, this pillow is 5” tall. When a head is laying down on it, it’s about 2”, give or take. We think that this pillow will be fine for all sleeper types, meaning back, side, and combo, because they usually require a moderate loft like the Tuft & Needle Pillow has.

tuft and needle pillow review sleeper types
The Tuft & Needle Pillow will work for all sleeper types.

Again, this will depend on your body type, and how long your neck is. Larger body types typically need a little more loft to support their head, and smaller people will need less. This is very individual though, so feel free to experiment—that’s what the trial period is for.

    Who Is This Pillow For?

Back sleepers need a moderate amount of loft that will keep their head and neck properly aligned with their spine. We think this pillow will do a good job of that.

Side sleepers need more loft to keep their spine aligned and their heads properly supported. This pillow should work for that, especially if you have a smaller body type.

If you’re a stomach sleeper, you might not even sleep with a pillow.

tuft and needle pillow review stomach sleeper
    Stomach sleeper approved.

Stomach sleepers usually need to keep their head pretty flat to keep it aligned with the rest of their spine. So unless you’re a pretty large person, this pillow might have too much loft for you to get comfortable, and may cause your neck to kink.

    Tuft And Needle Pillow Pricing

This pillow is priced pretty affordably, if you ask us. It’s $75 for the standard size, and $100 for the king. We’re also really happy they included a king size option, because king size pillows are a game changer. They’re huge, and very easy to hug while you sleep. Clearly, this isn’t your $4 Walmart pillow, but it’s also not crazy expensive compared to a pillow like the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR Cloud Breeze Pillow. You can see the current price and deals on Tuft & Needle’s website.

Tuft And Needle Pillow Review Verdict

We really like the Tuft and Needle pillow. We think it’s difficult to find a completely neutral-foam feeling pillow like this on the market, and this one happens to be especially comfortable. We think it’ll be good for back, side, and combo sleepers, but possibly a little too lofty for stomach sleepers.

    FAQS

Is the Tuft and Needle Pillow comfortable?

We sure think so. If you’re open to a fluffy foam pillow, we think you’ll find it comfortable too.

What type of pillow is this?

It’s a soft foam pillow with a responsive feel. It even has little holes to help with airflow circulation.

Can I still get this pillow if I’m a stomach sleeper?

Of course, this is a free country. That’s what the trial-period is for, so you can test it to see if it works for you. If it does, great. If it doesn’t, return it and check out our other pillow reviews.

What else does Tuft & Needle sell?

Lots of things! Besides their two mattresses, they also sell bedding including sheets and duvets, and then furniture like bed frames, and even a bean bag pouch.

Where are Tuft & Needle products made?

Phoenix, AZ, in the United States of America.

How did the Slumber Yard get this pillow?

Tuft & Needle sent it over to us so we could test it out for you. However, we are in now way obligated to write good or bad things about this pillow. All opinions and observations stated in this post are our own.

Can you explain “temperature neutral” a little bit more?

Sure. Basically, rather than it being up to your pillow, other environmental factors are going to play more of a role in how hot or cool you sleep. These can be things like blasting the air conditioning in your room or using a fan, or sleeping with flannel sheets or in a giant hoodie. These things will play more of a factor in your sleep temp than using this pillow will.

Can I return the T&N pillow?

It comes with free returns during the trial period.
